Xtra Tripping

(an edited re-blog from the work wiki a while back) New idea for Computer Aided Instruction-- this combines 2 reasonably easy technologies to create a more exciting and intriguing one. Combine text based web adventures created with Quandary with video cameos from XtraNormal and you have an educational 3d game that tracks student choices, scores students based on their decisions and responds to student actions. These don't have to be limited to using XtraNormal, they could also connect to things like Google Earth, Maps, online slideshows, etc.-- the opportunities are almost unlimited. Take a look at this basic example, River of Disgust. (PS-- this is just an example, it is not finished. Also, the content is only there to fill in a picture of what the format could be like. JavaScript is needed for it as well.)
